About Us

Caregiving Companion is a resource of Caregiver Advocates, a solution-based initiative created by Hospice of the Piedmont for caregivers – those caring for an aging or ill family member, friend, or neighbor. Caregiving Companion includes a range of support opportunities aimed at making a variety of difference resources available to those care for someone at any stage of their health journey.

Available for the community, Caregiving Companion seeks to support the challenging, yet rewarding, role of caregivers through educational and informational solutions.

A caregiver focus

You may ask why a hospice organization is investing in an initiative to support caregivers. For more than 40 years, Hospice of the Piedmont has worked with caregivers every day.  In that time, our primary focus was working directly with caregivers who were caring for someone at the end of life. In that time, our care teams have learned a great deal about many common concerns, challenges, and fears faced by caregivers.

In 2022, our organization began creating specialized resources just for caregivers in our hospice programs. We learned from family caregivers that they felt more supported and equipped in their roles when they had a sense of preparedness. The resources we created gave them a better understanding of how to care for themselves while caring for another person. Because of this, we knew that we needed to share the caregiver resources we’d created with our larger community.

As a result, we created Caregiver Advocates, Solutions from Hospice of the Piedmont. These solutions, which include Caregiving Companion, are the result of the respect and compassion we feel toward the many unsung heroes who are caring for someone else. Many caregivers are working full time, raising children or grandchildren, and managing financial considerations, all while trying to maintain their own autonomy too.

More than end-of-life care

Hospice of the Piedmont and its affiliate Hospice of Randolph offer a range of programs and services to individuals at all stages of an illness and to those children, teens and adults in the community who have various health and well-being needs. With offices in High Point and Asheboro, NC, we serve eight counties of the Piedmont-Triad region of NC.

As a community-supported, mission-driven organization, we seek to connect individuals and families to the care they need on the terms they choose. We are here to help. If you have questions about palliative care, hospice care or grief support, visit us online to contact us or to learn more.
